Follow a word’s meanings away from home, paying out cable as you go. Then find a different way back. Cable is your currency: a short way home banks it, a long way spends it. You start at Level 1 – every time you make it home, you go up a level. See how far you can get.
How to play
Fly into a word that shares a meaning with the one you’re on. Bank can mean tilt, shore or store.
Some asteroids are decoys – they only look like a meaning. Hit one and you lose a ship. Say the phrase in your head first.
Get far enough out and the station starts listening. When you’re one meaning away, HOME appears at the top of the screen, under the home word. No word can be used twice, so the way back is never the way you came.
The radar says how many links home you are – never which words. That part is yours to imagine.
Cable – you start a run with 20 links. Every word costs one. When you dock, the station winds back on its allowance for the level (11 at Level 1), so a quick way home banks the spare and a long way draws on your reserve. You never start a word with less than 12.
Earn cable – +1 for a link that changes word class (bank the noun → tilt the verb), +1 for an advanced sense, and on Live wire your streak is paid in cable when you dock. Over 30 and the extra is cashed in for points.
Live wire – once you turn for home, a red circle flashes top left. Press it and the way home goes on the clock: a few seconds a move, and every quick move builds a streak that multiplies your score and pays out cable. Miss the clock and the cable snags – it costs 2 links, not a ship. Leave it alone and you can think as long as you like.
Levels – each time you dock you step up a level, shown top left. Higher levels mean more decoys, a smaller station allowance, and the advanced word band. Lose all three ships and the run is over.
Stuck? Reel in pulls you back one word. It costs a link of cable and that word is burnt.
On a phone – flick your thumb in the direction of the word you want. A dashed line shows where you’re pointing and the word lights up before you let go. To dock, tap HOME at the top of the screen (or flick long and straight up). A flick that lands between words costs you nothing.
